Throckmorton CISD selected LBL Architects to assist with Bond Planning services and then for full architectural and engineering services. Throckmorton posted and passed a $30M bond, taking advantage of increased property value from a local wind farm to update and improve its facilities to attract students to the district and provide new programs to equip students with valuable skills. The wind farms provided nearly 70% of the funds for the project. The proposed 60,000 SF K-12 School building, now under construction, is designed to also support the Montessori teaching method and provides an ICC-500-compliant tornado storm shelter, media center, cafetorium and commercial kitchen, competition gym with a separate lobby with concessions, theater and fine arts spaces, Maker Space and CTE classrooms supporting HVAC technician, drone pilot, nursing, culinary, and STEM programs.
