West Arlington Police Service Center
Arlington, Texas
Designed by LBL Architects, this 19,285 SF service center is a multi-use facility, including a Community Room, Neighborhood Services administration, detective area, and acts as a base for patrol officers and investigation units. There were multiple “tenants” to consider in the design of the facility as well as differing uses in order to meet the various user group needs. This building was designed to complement the surrounding landscape and relate to the Fire Department Facility across the street.
The primary goal of the facility was to provide an “inviting” atmosphere for the public and provide a Community Room which could be used for a variety of uses by the City and public interest groups. The plan is organized to provide good circulation throughout the building while maintaining distinctively different departments.
This layout worked well and is basically replicated in the South Police Service Center.
